{"id":304,"date":"2014-01-27T07:42:52","date_gmt":"2014-01-27T07:42:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/libregraphicsmeeting.org\/lgm\/?page_id=304"},"modified":"2015-05-05T07:46:30","modified_gmt":"2015-05-05T06:46:30","slug":"online-resources","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/libregraphicsmeeting.org\/lgm\/public-documentation\/online-resources\/","title":{"rendered":"Online resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>-&gt; merge with\u00a0http:\/\/libregraphicsmeeting.org\/lgm\/?page_id=127<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Online IT infrastructure team is in charge of the communication infrastructure used for the LGM.<\/p>\n<p>The infrastrucutre is composed by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an LGM website for each year.<\/li>\n<li>an information management site (currently this WordPress instance).<\/li>\n<li>the LGM mailing list on Freedesktop.<\/li>\n<li>partially, the Create mailing list.<\/li>\n<li>the #lgm IRC channel on Freenode.<\/li>\n<li>the #lgm2014 irc channel.<\/li>\n<li>the contact adresses (email).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The team is composed by<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ale<\/li>\n<li>Camille<\/li>\n<li>Manuel<\/li>\n<li>Sarup<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is a contact with Martin.. will he join the team or just consul us?<\/p>\n<h1>The event website<\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Currently, we have:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a WordPress based website<\/li>\n<li>one instance per year<\/li>\n<li>with Gravity forms form managing the talks submissions, the registration, the reimbursment and the feedback<\/li>\n<li>the hosting is provided by Scribus in a freebsd VM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Needs for the LGM website<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Present a yearly website to the public (about, how to participate, venue, accommodation, contacts, &#8230;)<\/li>\n<li>Publish news (press-releases, important changes, &#8230;)<\/li>\n<li>Present an LGM website with general information on the LGM<\/li>\n<li>Aggregate the online social activity on the LGM (tweets by hashtag, &#8230;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Through Gravity Forms and a set of ad hoc scripts, the website currently also provide services for the information management related to the event:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Registration for the event (evt. a tool for badges creation)<\/li>\n<li>Conferences\/Workshop submission<\/li>\n<li>Reimbursement for the travelling costs<\/li>\n<li>Feedback from the participants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Problems with the current setup:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gravity forms does not allow a granular access rights to the forms and data<\/li>\n<li>Gravity forms does not provide an API for accessing the data stored in the forms (show the entries on the site)<\/li>\n<li>Not optimal for information management<\/li>\n<li>People have the feeling, that when they get a login they will have to manage the website<\/li>\n<li>Very slow (if at all) reaction from the server (BSD) admin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Advantages of the current setup:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Only one, well known by the editors, platform.<\/li>\n<li>Easy to manage on the server side<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Alternatives \/ Propositions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use Civicrm for the meeting management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>The mailing lists<\/h1>\n<h2>Current situation<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The LGM mailing list for the internal organisation related discussions. With public archives and free to join.<\/li>\n<li>The Create list for general discussions on libre graphics, which may or not include the LGM.
