The next location for the Libre Graphics Meeting will be Toronto, Canada. In 2016, LGM is welcome in London, UK (dates to be confirmed).
So, we hope to see many of you in Toronto at the end of April 2015.

Photowalk details

The photowalk held by Patrick David is on Tuesday, April 1. We will start at 09:30 and will finish at 13:30 so that some of the participants will be able to attend the tour at the Printing Arts Museum.

We will meet everyone in front of the Paulinum: http://osm.org/go/0MGgp9x35–?m=

The plan is to be walking up through St. Nicholas Church, and then over to see J.S. Bach and the market. From there it would be nice to visit the Musikviertel (time permitting).

All of this is subject to change if there is something shiny that catches our attention, of course!

Movie Night Details!

The details for the Movie Night have been set!

Come join us on Wednesday, April 2^nd from 8-10pm as we screen multiple short films including some that were made with Blender!

We will be screening these films at Passage Kinos in the WINTERGARTEN theater (approx. 650m from the University).

Last Day for Pre/Post Activities Signup!

Today is the last day to sign up for the Pre/Post activities we have planned for this year!

On Tuesday, April 1^st we have a photowalk around the city (estimated start time 10:00am in front of the Paulinum – finishing at 1:30pm) as well as a visit to the Museum of Printing Arts for a tour and possible workshop!

On Sunday, April 6^th there is a visit to the Panometer!

Call for slides: State of Libre Graphics

The first presentation event in this years LGM program is ‘state of Libre Graphics’ A common update for many of the projects across our Libre Graphics community. This frees up room in the schedule for deeper topics or fresh projects; while still giving us a chance to know what has been going on in various ongoing libre graphics related efforts; not only software projects, but also our various curation, publication and umbrella projects.

Fashion Design Freedom – Valentina

While freedom in digital graphic design is a primary topic at Libre Graphics Meeting, applications outside the digital world are also fascinating to see! So there will be an opportunity to hear about (and hack with) the fashion pattern design tool Valentina this year.

Susan Spencer Conklin first brought up the topic of free software for fashion design at Libre Graphics Meeting 2010 in Brussels and a year later in Montreal she demonstrated her own software made as part of the Tau Meta Tau Physica project. She programmed the project in Python and implemented the results visually into Inkscape through extensions to be able to output the patterns.

However, there are often many paths to a solution, and it wasn’t long before another option became available.

Roman Telezhinsky started working on his own pattern design tool called Valentina as he was studying in a college. Valentina will be introduced at this years Libre Graphics Meeting to the audience and because its still in an early stage, there will be a special hackfest for working on it!
